Roll On : Book Fair at PWTC (2014) + some tips!

Aug 14, 2014

Assalammualaikum.

I've been to this year Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF). This time i am rather prepared. Well, sort of. I didn't plan to buy anything for me because i was quite busy during studying and didn't enjoy much on reading. Oh btw, the idea of reading was growing inside me. It is really a wonderful way to experience and learn more about life and stuff. Reading will broaden your life. The word broaden your knowledge seems to dry because i am not aiming to be a genius. But life is something else. Reading is very much enriching.

Since i am not much to buy anything for me, i've asked my sister if they want any and end up buying Allegiant , Insurgent and Looking For Alaska. Much to my own surprise, it really much fun than i thought before (read here).I should not have generalised!

But even more surprising is i still buy some books though i am tight budget. I have bought islamic book. Hopefully i could do some review. I don't like to rush writing in my blog but when i am planning to write i'll things of other 100 things i need to do. I should focus myself on one thing at a time. Sigh~

Before i tell you some tips before going to KLIBF, you should really know why you have to go there at first place.

1. DISCOUNT!!!

Almost EVERYTHING here is cheaper than their usual price. They give discount on everything.

2. Hidden cheap gems.

Sometimes they would sell like old weird books for a really cheap price. It may go down untill RM2 or RM5. It may not much of a book but last time my friend do find quite an interesting one but i forget the title. I also get myself a short english novel for only rm5 and some children books for my younger sister.

3. Everything at one place.

This is really a good reason for those who hate to shop a lot and rajin enough to buy lots of books at on time. Not much like Big Bad Wolf (BBW), KLIBF got a complete categories of all books. You can find lots of reference books here also. Even for those university student from all sort of course. There is this booth where they sell Al Quran of all sizes. Not to mention books for children of all ages. They have it all!

4. Artist and writer appearance.

I don't care much about this. Haha.

OK. Do you want to go now? Here are some tips to make your trip worth it!

  1. Know what you want. You would buy more than you want but make sure you got what you want first.
  2. Do some research on books that you might want. Especially for university students. Maybe you can plan for next semester course. I don't do this since as a Pharmacy student we got this Kamal Bookstore that sell lots of medical related books for a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper prices.
  3. Check for the price. It really not because you didn't want to be cheated or stuff because publisher nowadays used to print the price directly on the cover. It is for budgetting
  4. Checks for available ebooks. If you like to read such way. Some books got free ebooks. Ask your friends. I got ebook of The Fault In Our Stars from my friend. Your friend can have a lot more. This will save MONEY so that you can buy more books.
  5. Bring a bagpack. It is a long journey and to be carrying plastic bags all the way there would be troublsome. Some even bring those small trolley here.
  6. Bring water. This is a big event. Some small vendor outside still sell for a slightly higher than normal price. The food in PWTC were sell by the fancy cafe of their own. Yup. Priceyy.
  7. Eat first. Don't get hungry in place selling pricey foods. You would make wrong decisions
  8. Get the floor plan. I try to find it before going but i couldn't found it. But they PIC there will give you the floor plan. Get familiar with the building. They have big lobby and hallway to put the booths plus some big hall to put some more.
  9. Survey first at all big book traders. i mean MPH Bookstore, PTS, Telaga Biru and stuff. If you willing to go all the way. It is really quite impossible to buy all the books from their exact publisher. Usually these book traders might even sell at a cheaper price. Sometimes the publisher of the book you want might didn't join KLIBF or didn't have any stock of the book you want. But these big traders always have it all.
  10. Need to be remember that KLIBF wasn't for those who only want to find english novels. It is quite a surprise for me too. I only found the novels my sister asked for at MPH Bookstore booth. If you were only aiming for english novels, i really suggest you to go to BBW. Their discounts are crazy!
  11. Charge your phone to the fullest. Well, to call your frind when you have lost them is one thing but now we need your camera. Bring a camera if you have one. Don't bring a DSLR btw. It is convenient when you can't decide which books to buy. Or so that you didn't forget that book you saw before and don't really sure if you want it or not. I snap the cover of the book to help me remember why i was interested in it. Then i would give a hard thought of all those books and choose which i needed more. Don't jump on buying books though they say books is an investment. Investment or not you need to stick to what you can afford.
  12. Last but not least, do wear comfortable attire. You will be walking a lot so no need those heels.

Thats it! Got some more tips? PLEASE comment and SHARE it with me.

Till next time. Daa~

Roll On : Book Fair at PWTC (2013)

Assalammualaikum. I am on time limit. I must finish my writing in 15 minutes. Yoshhhhh.

For those living in or near KL, this is a must go event. Why 2013? I just wanted to tell my experience during that yearand also this year book fair.

It is located in PWTC. For those who didn't know well what is PWTC, it is really actually just a very big building with lots of dewan and stuff where people do big events. There are all sort of events held here like wedding thingy and furniture thingy. Well, i only really care of the book fair so all other kind of event , i didn't took much attention to it.

This book fair was named Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair or KLIBF for short. But somehow when I mention KLIBF, most of my friend wouldnt recognise it. We simply call it book fair.

International? They also got some foreign companies here. There is this one booth where every stuff in there were in arabic. I don't even understand why. They got this model of a fancy building which i don't what building because it is written in arabic. yeah.

overly excited first time visitor of KLIBF

I wasn't much of a book person so i didn't really know what to buy. I don't even know what i would like to buy. I end up buying Indahnya Hidup Bersyariat. It's quite fancy with step by step instruction and coloured picture. Good when i need to refer to stuff.

I also bought Manisnya Persaudaraan Dalam Islam. I am kind of learning to become a better friend. Haha.

I don't buy any novels because i used to read Harry Potter and i don't like it. The length and the overly expressed situation like colour of hair or how light glimmers through those old crooked table and stuff just wasn't my thing. Surely my time of reading malay novels have long passed as the stories seems as cliche as the novel i read before.

Did i tell you i am a a manga person. Not really a big otaku but seeing Gempak Starz booth still give me that jumping joy. Last year they were celebrating their tenth anniversary and were giving out cool merchandise. I simply have to get a hand on their bag and end up buying 4 comics just to get that one beg.

Arghhhh.

But still, the bag was really cute! I left it at KTSN so i can't show you just how awesome it is.

They also were selling this limited edition cards were if you use a special type of application (you can download it) it will show a 3D image of the card. Well, i think it have some bigger purpose but i don't care really.

I didn't really prepare much. If i know what to expect i would have been a better buyer. Read my 2014 trip to know some VALUABLE tips.

I have used extra 10 minutes.

I bought this book during last Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF 2014). I can't recall from which booth though. i got some discount but the actual price was RM 17. I'm never that fond of reading books actually. However i do recall that i always compete with friend on Nilam during high school (that book where you record your reading and submit to your teacher. They give prizes each week for those who read the most). So now i'm somewhat trying to become that person back. But i try to choose better books which is not really my genre. Like this fellow.

I read fictional. it is easier for me to digest as i am that person who likes to dream much. This kind of book wasn't that easy though. I easily got lost and i got that feeling that it just repeat stuff though it really wasn't. this would then causes me to read SLOWER. Still, i love this book and to make a better understanding i decided to write some as i read it. Which of course would make that finish line even SLOWER to reach. Well~

oh my. it's in BM and i'm writing in English.

oh my.

Kemudian perbincangan mengenai bentuk-bentuk roh.

 http://pqssamttaj.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/544826_382844945101385_1352094287_n1.jpg

  1. mudah ragu-ragu
  2. berburuk sangka
  3. lemah semangat / kurang keyakinan
  4. malas beribadah
  5. gelisah dan resah
  6. tekanan

  1. bergetar hatinya apabila disebutkan nama zat Allah
  2. iman yang meningkat dengan bacaan al quran
  3. mudah menerima dan menyampaikan kebenaran
  4. selalu beribadat
  5. sentiassa gembira

i love this book. now i got better understanding on the first chapter though i think i would read it again sometime. hope i can write on the next chapter as soon as possible.

till next time~

Roll On : Monorail vs LRT vs KTM

Jul 18, 2014

(i'm writing as if a UKM KL students were reading)

When you live in KL, these thing is an absolute important. You can almost go everywhere around KL with these, if you plan smart. And also some walking of course. You can also manage some distance into Selangor also. New addition to LRT will go all the way to Puchong. Just a few steps away to my aunt house. Sadly it is scheduled to finish when i'll graduate. Pfft~

I hate KTM. Somehow it is amazingly slow sometimes. But it really help when you want to go somewhere distances into Selangor. Especially being UKM student, if you were to go to UKM Bangi, this is your number one choice. But if you have car or can get hand on it, just drive. It will save a lot of time.

KTM
My route would be taking LRT to Bandar Tasik Selatan and switch to KTM from there to UKM Bangi. The LRT might take half an hour. KTM on the other hand really depends on your fate. If you didnt have to wait long, it maybe something around 30 to 40 minutes. From there you can take a taxi to UKM. Make sure you know which part of UKM you want to go since some department may have been allocated to new buildings. But some main one might still be in Pusanika.

Usually you will need to go to UKM Bangi when you have things that is so important it need to be dealt right away right there. Meaning here, you don't always need to go there actually. There is a staff from Unit Kebajikan Pelajar that come once a week to help you to deal stuff with UKM Bangi. I think these system where someone from Bangi come every now then in a month thing was just established for a year i think. It is so convenience. So pull your life accodingly so that you won't end up need to be in Bangi. It takes times when you don't really have much to spend with.

OK. Back to main discussion.

Monorail and LRT were faster. But monorail got shorter routes and shorter trains also. It focused mainly in KL only. LRT got longer route (into Selangor) and longer trains. When you're going somewhere do locate nearest LRT or monorail or KTM station. Then simply open RapidKL website and see what kind of route you need to take. It really is simpler now. But sometimes you got to do it manually also.

Monorail

LRT

Like the route i use to go to Bangi, Rapid KL website will use other route. It got something on gettin you on KTM as soon as possible. But, as i was saying, KTM we're quite slow, so i am using much LRT as possible and when you a little outside of KL, like BTS, the KTM were faster somehow. Try to ask senior first when you were going out or just take a thorough hard look into the route maps.

WIKI

Most importantly, I would really suggest you to use your IC as your touch n go card since it will work everywhere and for free. Free here mean that you didnt need to spend money to buy the card as in touch n go and rapidKL card. Just go to the counter at lrt or ktm or monorail that sell the topup and simply as them to top up. The tricky part is it is quite hard to find counter that provide such service, as compared to the RapidKL card that is simply can be top up at the self service machine that you use to buy token to get into the train. That is why i always topup like rm10 or rm20 when i do find one.

Funnily, topup at the counter are faster than the machine. Not many people queing for it. Well, no one actually. I never actually queue for topup. On top of that, it is really convenience since i can simply put it in my phone case (the one that got cover over the screen one) and since it is my IC, of course i would never want to forget to bring it and well, admit it, we rarely forget to bring our phone anywhere. Problem solved Like a boss.

one more thing. if you want to go to MidValley, take LRT to Bangsar and simply take Midvalley shuttle bus from there. Save some money and well, let just say i really don't like KTM.

oh. the most important thing! If you don't have any card, simply go to the self service machine, it will show you the map route and tap on your destination. slip into some money and you will get a blue token. Simply touch the token on the scanner to open the gate and going in and slip the token into the slot to open the gate when you want to go in. this is for monorail and self service machine.
self service machine at lrt and monorail (credit)

the ktm self service machine were quite weird actually. people usually just buy the ticket from counter directly.

Roll On : My Sensitive Skin Care ( i have asthma also)

Jun 13, 2014

This post is going to be so lame and I might even going to delete it. HAHA ME.

I got awful skin problem. It started during matriculation year and it never resolve. I thought at first it the hormone thing but I got my period during Form 2 and got excellent skin untill only when I got to matriculation college. Actually, the real culprit here is change of environment + awful lot of stress + my ignorance on being a good skin care person

Dear Awesome, whats with the asthma thing?

Well, peoples with asthma tend to have skin problem. It related to allergy which is to long to be elaborated so we will just keep it this way "you got some sort of skin problem if you got asthma"

usually, it may related to so called RESDUNG.

Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.  I am so not that person who got to become really skin care cautios freak kind of person. Mainly because I never got one and at matriculation college it was not as severe as current condititon. I don't know how much stupidity I got back at that day whereby I neglect to take immediate care.

Now. My skin at it worst. I need to become this kind of freak or else I easily will culture a new pimples. Oh. I learn to properly care for my skin but did not keep much to the routine so it kind of being on and off kind of way.

During researching for better skin care, I have tried tonnes of product and now I am sticking to Aiken. Alhamdulillah that my skin don't get weird side effect due to changing of products. Some even make my skin lighten about 2 to 3 tones brighter. But not my pimples scar however. Of course it have don't nothing to manage my pimples outbreak.

Aiken on the other work well to actually reduce my pimples outbreak + the scar. I also feel a lot more comfortable to use their cleanser. Basically, it is quite mild for an acne treatment products.

I am using their cleanser, toner and cream/tea tree oil. All of these product basically have Tea Tree Oil as it main substance for anti acne properties. They also have moisturizer and I do love how it make my skin look hydrated but then my skin look much oily thus I have stop using it.

read more here

the reason why i got pump up to write today. Read more here

The best way for me to use this products is to clean my face twice daily and followed by toner. Then I will apply the cream (after cleaning my face) and place when I got pimples or prone to have pimples outbreak. The cream and oil really work well to fight the acne like those Oxy cream. Basically, those are using benzoyl peroxide while this Aiken products are using Tea Tree Oil.

The cream is much milder than the oil one's and of course less oily. Since the oily were making my skin look too oily, I only applied it before sleep or if i am staying in my room in the day. This have at some reduces the speed of effectiveness as compared when i am using the cream one. Effectiveness here meaning to get skin like my left cheek (picture below).

Though oil ones are quite strong it give like scale where you can actually peel it off. I think it got pengelupasan thingy. Oil does effectively kill the pimples faster though I am not using it as frequent as the cream. But, i am not much of a fan when it seem like the scar are getting somewhat worse. It will go off eventually but with my on/off mode, its going to be a long time.

Here come the pictures. My face look quite oily since I am wearing a mask. And also I am using my webcam, so do add extra enhancement to every details in the picture. It is quite bad than this pictures potrayed~~

right cheek

left cheek

This is my current face, I couldn't show a before face since my face now got even worst recently due to stress about my exam, funny sleeping schedule and not to mention I scratch my skin (another stupid bad habit of mine, I just can't help it) with vaseline lotion applied on my hand. (stupid stupid stupid stupid)

As you can see, my left cheek is better than my right cheek. This is because (why does it feel like I am doing those lab reports??) during my rajin/diciplined time I managed to tone down my left cheek. My right cheek always got more pimples but since I don't do much care now, the pimples start to bermaharajalela back. On the other hand, my left cheek is rather spared since the pimples are, well, kind of all gone thus rendering its ability to outbreak.

Pimple my fellow friend is the blockage of pores gone bad with the help of bacteria. That is why it is sort of localizing it outbreak. The act of not caring much of your skin makes it a suitable place for it to live. Not to meantion additional predisposing factor like hormonal imbalance and stuff.

Yes. The perks of being pharmacy student.

Discusing on predisposing factors for MY pimples outbreak.

  1. Picking my pimple/pimples scar
  2. Not enough rest/sleep
  3. Stess
  4. PMS
  5. Didn't clean oil out of my face frequently
These is my issues. Point 2 to 4 is where I couldn't help myself at all. My life curently is having all sort of stress. Though if won't affect much on my emotion it surely somehow affect so much to my skin. How bad it is? imagine waking up with two to three pimples magically arise from nowhere. It is usually swollen thus making it look hideous. It usually now arise around my mouth area and my chin. Mostly it will become even worst when I keep on kopek the parut and stuff.

rather toned down actually

newly formed jerawat

Another problem is, the pimples scar won't go away. I have tried not to pick it and stuff cause they say it cause the scar. But it is still there!! And since area around scars got pimples, I couldn't apply the scar cream as I want to apply the acne cream.

Basically, if I get to routinely do the twice daily wash + toner + cream/oil it will surely help. I need to also quickly wash my skin with water when it gets too oily and wipe it dry. Occasionally, I will put those mask to remove clogged pores which not only remove the pores, I will also less scartching skin and some Savee mask every now and then. Lastly, I need to stop touching my face especially with lotion on.

I don't wear make up. It doesn't feel comfortable and it surely didn't feel OK to tenyeh stuff on my pimples. Though I do wear BB cream and Johnson talc powder. When I feel like it lah~~

OH DISCLIPNE.
